| "Doing crazy things for God keeps me sane" Unknown Author |
C'mon now, 'fess up!
I'm a perfect example of 'craziness'...
(Casual definitions: intensely enthusiastic; passionately excited:
an unpredictable, nonconforming person; oddball)
If anyone had told me I would partner w/someone who'd 'join the army to see the world'?
I would've laughed & said, "Oh yeah...when pigs fly".
If anyone had told me I would one day fly to Africa and back?
I would've laughed & said, "Oh yeah...when pigs fly".
If anyone had told me I would one day not only fly to China...
but live and work there?
I would've laughed & said, "Oh yeah, when pigs fly".
What did I know??? Pigs do fly...for those of us who do crazy things!
One of my nieces nicknamed me 'Vasca Looney Tunes'...read on and you'll understand why!
Here are a few of my pre-marital crazies for you...and they're all true! Oh boy!
Michael and I met at church where he immediately took a shine to my sister (four years younger than me); he asked for a date but she said she'd need to ask her mother. My brilliant mother (was she a seer?) suggested she was too young but he could ask her sister Vasca! Mother, how could you? I totally understand Leah being given to Jacob when he bargained for Rachel.
Though greatly humiliated at the time, I soon thanked God for His intervention coupled with my genius mother's foresight!
Back to mother handing me over to M...he smugly informed people, "That girl (me...the older sister) will never set foot in my car!"
I laughed and said, "Oh yeah, when pigs fly".
I ended up w/half of his assets plus his piggy bank which mysteriously sprouted wings...whoopee!
Unexpectedly zapped, he was whisked off to a war in Korea. Well, we had a very vague idea of 'getting married' ~ so vague that poor M was apparently in a fog, me? I sort of relocated to Cloud 9!!!
While he was away (and without his knowledge), this passionately unpredictable, oddball set our wedding date; invitations printed...mission accomplished. Hey, the one missing part was the co-operation of the other party (who, by the way, was greatly weakened by his battlefront stint in Korea).
Get married? Now? Michael might've thought "Oh yeah? Whey pigs fly!"
Well, as we know, God is known to do astonishing things...on a cold day in July the pigs took to the skies.
These things took place quite some time ago...you probably know a little about me and Michael, our sixty years together...happy years to boot, so you see that everything worked out well.
Okay, I remain a tad odd...a bit unpredictable...Michael's fog lifted and he sees...clearly? Umm...yes.
We continue holding onto God with all our strength...which, believe me, takes some doing surrounded by those crazy flyin' pigs!!!
From my heart...to yours!
