NO MATTER WHAT

"The next moment is as much beyond our grasp, and as much in God's care, as that a hundred years away.  Care for the next minute is as foolish as care for a day in the next thousand years.  In neither can we do anything, in both God is doing everything"...C.S. Lewis
RIGHT DECISION

Making right decisions hasn't always been a plus for me...I was never confident of things, more afraid of making mistakes than anything else!  However, in my own unique way, this handsome man and I became life-partners.

Michael returned from the front lines of Korea in a very weakened condition; must've been mental as well as physical 'cause when he stepped off the troop train into my arms he hadn't a clue I had my wedding dress, invitations were out...all was planned and executed for our wedding a little over a week later.

It's probably a good thing I don't/can't remember how we accomplished so much in such a short time.  I do remember his mother was somewhat beside herself...can you imagine?  Yeah, I know!

We pledged our love, our lives to each other with no cares for the next moment; we gave that to God who planned everything!  Our decision?

To make the best of everything, no matter what.

Family planning didn't come into the picture either.  We had our four precious little boys...stair stepping in less than five years!  Some friends and M's mother moaned about that but after the fact proclaimed we were wonderful as parents!  Our decision?

To make the best of everything, no matter what.

We had a lovely home, in a quiet little town...with no prospects for being financially equipped to raise and educate our sons!  Michael had the opportunity to apply for active duty with the military...some of our peers thought it was great...some others thought it most foolish.

Vasca and the boys were sure to become 'camp followers'...how can you two be so foolish?  Aah...we made our decision and off we went to follow 'the camp'...innocently following a plan we knew nothing of until years and a multitude of growing experiences later.

Three days after our arrival at M's first army assignment we discovered in two days he was to fly to a secret destination for a secret amount of time and so began our career of surprises.

M's commanding officers wife picked me up for a briefing session that week (the boys and I were in a set of quarters w/nothing but 5 army cots plus bedding...furniture was delayed somewhere) and she asked how I liked my rather rude intro to army life.  I said, "I love it"...she told me I would make an outstanding army wife and I did.  My decision?

To make the best of everything, no matter what.

Michael says I always made each move an adventure; I did and loved doing it.  Moving from Williamsburg Virginia to Athens Greece was an adventure we'd never dreamed of but it happened.  Most people were able to extend their dream assignments...us?  Ha, we were always cut short...Viet Nam came along for us when most had never heard of it.

M was the first in Greece to be assigned there which gave him the honor of being presented to King Constantine of Greece.  So?  The six of us...Christmas in an empty Greek house...card table & Christmas tree. Our decision?

To make the best of everything, no matter what.

Here we are, military career behind us (more about the other careers to follow)...four handsome, wonderful sons w/four wonderful, beautiful wives and ten grand's ...what else?  Handsome, beautiful, smart...of course!

Until I met Michael I was frightened of my own shadow!  I know you find that difficult to imagine...confidentially so do I.  Believe me, I wanted to stay put the rest of my life.

Well...remember what C.S. Lewis wrote...
"The next moment is as much beyond our grasp,
and as much in God's care, as that a hundred years away.
Care for the next minute is as foolish as care for a day in the next thousand years.  In neither can we do anything; in both God is doing everything."

Since God's doing everything, my decision?

To make the best of everything, no matter what.

From my heart, to yours
