“This is my depressed stance.
When you're depressed,
it makes a lot of difference how you stand.
The worst thing you can do is
straighten up and hold your head high
because then you'll start to feel better.
If you're going to get any joy out of being depressed,
you've got to stand like this.”
Charlie Brown
I love Charlie Brown...he could always make my day! Charlie Brown had his ups and Lucy put him down...poor Charlie Brown!
Once upon a time (honest...this isn't gonna' be a fairy-tale) I was a depressed person; yep, I sure was and that was ...well...it was 'stupid'. (some consider that a not so nice word...so 'scuse me).
I'm over that...phew! But you know, there are hordes of depressed people around us! Depressed over a multitude of things...some things perhaps could've, would've been avoided...others? Unavoidable!
When M and I were in Colorado we loved staying away from 'the news' and all the problems in society. Aah...peace, sweet peace! When we were in Oklahoma for a grandson's wedding we were away from 'the news' (well, except for football news...you know how important that is, right?). Aah...peace and family love, friends around...like one big reunion!
You go up on the top of the mountain, then you come down in the valley and sometimes it takes a lot of work to adjust w/out losin' it.
In a few days, God willing, we're having an important election; if you're sucked in to all the political ads you may become depressed...I'm sure they cause a multitude of emotions! I can only do my part...pray for God to give us what we need and vote.
Whatever, life goes on.
“There are moments when everything goes well;
don't be frightened, it won't last.”
...Jules Renard
I don't want to have that mind set...no way...imagine thinking that no matter how good life is today that...what? Disaster's lurking around the corner and it's gonna' go up in flames? Okay, what about it? A day at a time is quite enough...remember this?
Matthew 6:34 "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes."...The Message
M is very seldom depressed but I asked him what thing or things could or would depress him...'when someone close to me disappoints me'. I believe that's the same with me.
But you know what I'm thinking? Ouch...I let people down much too often; why, oh why do that? I don't want to depress M, you or anyone...now that's depressing!!! Hmm...a vicious circle!
"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect.
It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."
You know what? I've a bad case of forgetfulness...'cause God is always...ALWAYS...right beside me, all I need to do is pay attention to Him...and see what He's doing! HE looks beyond my imperfections and oh my, that takes a lot of looking.
Okay, changing Charlie Brown's depression to something better...how's about:
It makes a lot of difference how you stand.
The best thing you can do is
straighten up and hold your head high
because then you'll start to feel better.
plus
Give your entire attention to what God is doing
right now, and don't get worked up
about what may or may not happen tomorrow.
God will help you deal with whatever
hard things come up when the time comes.
Good advice that I'm working on...takes time! Work in progress...yes!
From my heart...to yours! Vasca
