REBEL...SORT OF...

To be persuasive we must be believable;
to be believable we must be credible;
to be credible we must be truthful."
author unknown

I'm wondering...how can I influence others if I'm not truthful, if I can't be trusted to tell the truth?

Okay, I've lied...but I was never successful at it; mother said she could tell by my eyes!  Dead give-away, my eyes!  Two of my brothers and my sister could make her believe anything...oh brother, I could never get away w/anything.  In high school I conjured up a questionable lie in science class which gave the teacher everything he needed to reprimand me...but he was kind and made things way more difficult for the entire class...oh boy, my bad.

"Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.
Peter Drucker

I think, much of the time, I probably started with 'what is acceptable' instead of 'the truth'.  So what is acceptable anyway?
Word definitions are:
Lie...being deceitful (withholding the truth with malice in mind).
Whopper...A gross untruth.
White lie...being diplomatic(tactfully withholding truth
so not to hurt ones feelings).
Fib...a small or trivial lie; minor falsehood.
Majors and minors???  Wow!

Those little white lies just seem to roll right out of my smiley mouth and...what's that God?  Oops!  Not a fib and you know it's not a white lie?  Well, white lie saved hurt feelings, oh, not? There's no such thing?  You're not pleased with me, right?  Oh my!

I read a quote that said, "Speak the truth even if your voice shakes"!  Don't know about that 'cause if my voice shook that might convince someone that I was indeed lying!  Sometimes I can't win for losing...how 'bout you?

To tell the truth? I think much of the world doesn't understand the word.

It is defined in word searches as:
Conformity to fact or actuality.
A statement proven to be or accepted as true.
Sincerity; integrity.

Seems these days are filled with a preponderance of lies...the norm in many circles.  Hmm...how about our government...much lying going on there?  It's difficult to believe anything that's put out by anyone in the hierarchy!  Lying seems to be in fashion; while truthfulness seems cause for 'mud in one's eye'...not saying always but it seems to be commonplace!

I'm thinking...what is the nose were to grow longer w/each lie one told...hmm!  It would be impossible to maneuver around Washington D. C.  (Ha, the nation might be dis-functional due to the 'stick outs'...you think?)  Cyrano de Bergerac had a long nose but not because of lying, he was born with it...that's different.

"In a time of universal deceit,
telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
George Orwell

The more I read, the more I watch...the more I want to improve...the more I want to encourage...the more I want to spread the truth...to speak the truth!  I think I'm becoming 'a revolutionary'...of sorts.

From my heart...to yours,

  1. Thank you Vasca, Once again you hit close to home with this one! Sometimes it is easier to not speak the truth because you do not want to hurt someone's feelings. The Holy Spirit is helping me more and more these days as I seek to be the woman God wants me to be! Love ya!
